Jack Uhey reached AAA as a player.

Uhey was taken by the Chicago Cubs in the 13th round of the 1974 amateur draft. He made his pro debut that year with the GCL Cubs, going 4-1 with a 3.15 ERA and only six walks in 40 innings. In 1975, Uhey had a 3-6, 2 Sv, 3.44 record for the Key West Cubs.

Jackie spent 1976 with the Clinton Pilots, where he was 6-5 with a 3.94 ERA. His control remained sharp with 23 walks in 105 innings pitched. The right-hander was 10-10 with a 3.52 ERA for the '77 Pompano Beach Cubs with 28 walks in 143 innings.

Uhey's career hit the skids in 1978 when he struggled for the Midland Cubs(2-1, 6.88, 26 H in 17 IP) and the Bakersfield Outlaws(1-2, 5.33, 43 H in 27 IP). He did not pitch in 1979.

In 1980, Uhey was back with the Victoria Mussels, an independent team. He was 2-4 with a 4.92 ERA but hit 233 at the plate. The next year, Jack went 7-1 with a 2.65 ERA for the Utica Blue Sox, another independent club. He led the New York-Penn League in ERA.

His 1981 performance earned Uhey another contract with a MLB club. He signed with the Milwaukee Brewers and split 1982 between the El Paso Diablos(3-2, 2 Sv, 4.78, 73 H in 52 2/3 IP) and the Vancouver Canadians(Sv, 5 runs in 7 innings in his AAA stint). That ended his career as a pitcher.

Uhey began scouting for the San Francisco Giants in 1984. He has since been a longtime scout for the Angels. He signed Steve Reed, Jamie Burke, and Bobby Jenks among others. In 2009, he was the Angels' Northwest Area Scouting Director.

He has also served as a pitching  coach for the Giants and the Angels farm clubs, including the Everett AquaSox and AZL Angels.
